Mara and Kijana awoke before their mother, play wrestling each other. They knew how to use their voices, growling mostly and making tiny attempts to roar. As they pounced on each other, they rolled into Kula and decided it would be fun to pounce on her instead. They giggled loudly and jumped on her, pawing and biting at their mother’s ears. “Mmph..” she rolled over, sending them tumbling over, she was never a morning person, even with growing cubs on her hands. “Mommy!” Mara squeaked, as both her and Kijana pounced on Kula again and again. “Hmphh..” she rubbed her eyes with her paws her voice groggy, “It’s way to early for me,” Kula groaned, but couldn’t help but smile. Her cubs were beautiful and were already growing fast. She wished she saw Chumvi more though, “Hey, how about we visit Daddy today, hm?” Kula smiled, knowing how much Mara loved Chumvi. The two cubs jumped up excitedly, running in circles around their mothers feet. “I’m guessing that’s a yes,” Kula chuckled and picked Kijana up onto her back, he was always the shy one.
Mara ran out of the cave, bursting with excitement to see her father after so long. He had been back for weeks now, but the family had barely seen each other. She missed what the family used to be. Kula trotted lazily to the waterhole, the warmth of the sun heating up her back quickly. It was another hot day, as usual.. She walked around the waterhole, looking under every shaded tree, Chumvi wasn’t here today. She shook her head and frowned, usually Chumvi stayed overnight at her cave with the cubs, she had forgotten where his old cave was. She began to walk around aimlessly in the burning sun, hoping to come across her loving mate soon.
As she was about to turn around back to her cave and take another nap a smile appeared on her lips as she noticed the chocolate brown lion up ahead. “Love?” she called out to Chumvi, padding up to him swiftly. She nuzzled him, burying her face into his massive mane, engulfing herself in his scent. Mara pawed at Chumvi’s legs, “Daddy! Daddy!” she continued to jump at his legs, nipping at her father’s jaw playfully. “I’ve missed you so..” Kula murmured as she stared into Chumvi’s sunset orange eyes.
“Kula!” He grinned widely as his light brown colored mate came into sight. His grin grew even wider, if that was even possible, when his two cubs came into sight as well. “Mara, Kijana!” He basically shouted out as he quickened his pace to a jog in order to reach his family quicker. Despite him having returned a few wakes ago, it seemed like his life was running parallel to that of his family; he had gotten busy with exploring the areas surrounding the Pridelands lately, yet everytime he returned to the cave, or when he was somewhere else in the Pridelands, he would never find his mate and cubs. He didn’t want to let the thought bother his mind during a happy time like this though, so he nuzzled his mate as soon as she buried her face into his mane. Just like Kula did, Chumvi inhaled her scent that he had missed so much lately.
After nuzzling his mate lovingly, he leaned down to his daughter and nuzzled her with the same amount of affection, followed by a sweet mannered purring. “Hello there, beautiful,” he grinned down at his daughter before nudging her with his nose and then lifted his son off of his mate’s back. “Hey there, son! How have you been?” He grinned playfully, to which he only got replied to with his paws reaching out for him, indicating he wanted a hug as well. Chumvi happily obliged, yet again purring, and put him down next to his sister afterwards.
Once he lifted his head, he looked into Kula’s sunrise colored eyes lovingly, and finally replied, “I’ve missed you too… So much.” He then moved closer to her again, and began nuzzling her once more, so she could snuggle into his mane again.

Kula’s emotions were all jumbled up; she was happy, confused, excited, jumping out of her skin. She had longed to see him for so long and now she was finally here, in the moment. What would she do or say? All she could think of was nuzzling herself into his dark brown mane, never wanting to leave his embrace. It felt like they were a happy family again, the puzzle pieces were found and put back together, as one. She watched as he interacted with his daughter and son. He was such a muscular lion but with them he was so gentle, so loving. She smiled down at the cubs as they circled around their father’s legs. She giggled, “Well now they’ve missed you too. They’ve grown so much since you’ve last seen them as you can tell,” Kula nodded her head. Most of the cubs teeth had started growing in and Mara had begun to eat meat. Kijana always being the shy one was afraid to try it, but Kula’s milk was drying up, he would soon have to start.
She purred loudly as he embraced her once more, she nuzzled into his mane, placing her paw on his. “I love you, it’s crazy it’s like I’m already falling in love all over again. It’s been weeks since I’ve seen you,” she frowned, “We’re both so busy looking for each other…”
(I KNOW. <3)
Chumvi felt exactly the same as Kula did: struck by euphoria, yet also worry and confusion. He was so scared of not seeing his family again for ages for whatever reason. Perhaps he would unexpectedly keave for a little longer again, or they would just keep on missing each other only by the second, just as it had gone on since last few weeks. For the moment though, he let go of his worry and expressed his love to his mate like there was no tomorrow. “They’ve grown a lot, indeed,” he smiled down at his cubs proudly, “I’ve missed you so much…” He yet again spoke as he leaned down to nuzzle both of his cubs at once, allowing to let them bury their little faces into his thick mane.
When he returned to nuzzling his mate again, he felt her paw lightly press down on his, causing a small smile to grow on his muzzle. “I know,” he chuckled, yet instead of amusement, guilt was clearly audible due to his tone of voice, “I could never find you when I came back from my trips to nearby lands… I mean, I didn’t really go far, I just wanted to see some different places and such.” He tried to explain himself again, even though he had already when he announced he would be going to visit new places every now and then. Since Chumvi wasn’t really the type of lion to let things bother him too much for too long, he let it slide again until Kula replied, and sat down on his haunches.
“I’m glad to hear you’re falling for me all over again though,” he grinned slyly and flashed his strong fangs while doing so, “I was a little scared of you finding someone else, or you getting over me.” While stating the last bit, his voice went from confident and self-mocking, to a little ashamed and insecure. Kula meant the world to him, and truly, he had been wondering if his absence would cause her to move on, and perhaps find someone else.
Kula was filled with such happiness and love she felt the need to shower him with endless kisses but held back, only giving him a few licks on the lips. She had been so morose without him by her side to raise their growing family. The only thing keeping her going were their two beautiful cubs to wake her up every morning. “We’ve all missed you, me the most,” she purred, entwining her tail in his. She always admired how he acted around the cubs, he was never one to be a rude lion but he acted so tough around others. To the cubs he was gentle and sincere. “I looked for you whenever I heard you were back,” she frowned deeply. “I should have just stayed by the cave so you could find me,” she shook her head slowly, “We need better communication,” she chuckled lightly. She licked him once more on the lips to silence him for he seemed to prattle on forever, “Sh, no need to explain, as long as your here now,” she closed her eyes as she nuzzled deeper into his fur.
“Well it’s been a few weeks since I’ve last seen you,” she frowned, “I’ve missed your touch and handsomeness,” she giggled. A look of shock came over her face, “I could never leave you. You mean everything to me,” she wrapped her tiny arms around his muscular body, she never knew how insecure he was..
